Menopause

Imagine that 50% of the UK population was to experience the same life-changing health condition, which if disregarded would contribute to worse physical health, an increase in mental health issues, and an increased chance of losing a job or relationship.

Due to a lack of awareness among the public, a lack of training of some medical professionals and old-fashioned, social stigma, the needs of anyone going through the menopause are often ignored, downplayed or overlooked.

Hopefully some of the below resources might help counter this situation…

Balance Menopause App

“Discovering the Balance Menopause app was a literal life saver for me. Once I realised I was perimenopausal, the online forums were an invaluable space to read about other people’s experiences and symptoms. The app also provided useful, reliable information on HRT options and how to approach my GP.  I recommend the Balance app to anyone who is or thinks they or someone they know, is going through any stage of menopause.” Hills Employee

The Menopause is a natural stage of life which affects most women. While the Menopause usually happens between the ages of 45 and 55, it can also happen earlier or later in someone’s life. For many people symptoms last about four years, but symptoms can last a lot longer. There are three different stages to the Menopause:

  • Perimenopause
  • Menopause
  • Postmenopause

The Menopause can also have an impact on anyone supporting someone going through the Menopause, whether a relative, partner, colleague, or carer. Although the Menopause will only be experienced by women, men can be affected too as they may have a number of worries about their friends or loved ones.
